Willie Lee Jones

On June 15, 1954, Willie Lee Jones was born in Scooba, Mississippi, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas James (Willie Olevia Jones) Spates. Willie was one of nine siblings: two brothers and six sisters. 

During his time on earth, Willie attended the Sumter County School System until he decided to join Job Corps in Wichita, Kansas, in his early years. Willie spent a number of years in his young manhood in St. Louis, where he loved his life as a police officer and a school bus driver until he returned to Mississippi, where he resided in Morton. Willie met and married Bettye Ann Jones. He pursued a career in construction and worked for the city of Morton and the Blain Company of Morton. In his years of life, Willie was known to drive fancy cars, talk a lot of noise, and have multiple nicknames. Everyone knew him as "Hitler" and "Steering Wheel".

Willie was blessed to have four children; three are still living. Willie is survived by his loving wife, Bettye Ann Jones, and three children, Niah Hill of Brandon, MS, Tekeisha Jones of St. Louis, MO, and Martin Jones of Arkansas. Four bonus children: Russell Banks of Morton, MS; Marcel Lloyd of Morton, MS; Jason Berry of Houston, TX; and Zenisha Ficklin of Chicago, IL; and a brother-in-law, Pearlie Joe Spivey. One Bonus brother, James (Ann) James of Tuscaloosa, AL, and one bonus sister, Edna James of Eutow, AL. He is also survived by four sisters, Clara (Nelson) McGill of Elyria, OH, Willie V. (Albert) Webb of Meridian, MS, Shirley Westbrook of DeKalb, MS, and Lisa Vickers of Livingston, AL. A host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

Willie was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Olevia Jones Spates, his two brothers, Vick Stidmon and Thomas James Stidmon, and his two sisters, Ormaus Jean Stidmon and Bonnie Jean Stidmon. Also preceded by his mother-in-law, Josephine Watson; one son, Demarrius Queshawn Hill; and one grandson, De'Angelo Ja'Quae Mayes

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Wolf Funeral Services Parlor in Morton, MS. Another visitation will be on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm at the Wolf Funeral Services Parlor. The celebration of Willie's life will be Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 1:00 pm, held at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton.  Bro. Robert Boyd will officiate services and pallbearers will be selected by the family. Willie will be laid to rest at the St. Peter Cemetery.

Willie was well known, loved, and respected by many.  His presence will truly be missed.
