Olive Branch

In Loving Memory of William Jewett Wooten, known by his friends as Bill.

William Jewett Wooten, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of God, passed away and entered the gates of heaven on May 5, 2025, at the age of 63.

A man of strength and deep conviction, he worked tirelessly to support his family and lived a life marked by humility, grace, and unwavering faith. He was a dedicated member of his church, always ready to lend a hand, share a kind word, and serve those in need. His generosity extended far beyond his own circle—he gave back to his community in countless ways and lived a life of true service.

Even after the heartbreaking loss of his beloved son, William Jewett Wooten II (Billy), he never wavered in his faith. He carried that pain with grace and continued to be a source of strength and comfort for others, always pointing back to hope and love.

To know him was to love him. He touched the lives of so many—friends, family, coworkers, and even strangers. He would help anyone at any moment, without hesitation. And if he couldn’t do it right then, he would find the time to make it happen. That’s just who he was—selfless, reliable, and deeply kind.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Cindy Wooten; two children, Courtney Rushing and Cherith Wooten; and his treasured grandchildren, Harbor Wooten, Brennan Rushing, Hayven Wooten, Corbin Rushing, and Hallie Wooten. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Sherrie Wooten, and his beloved older sister, Rebecca McElhenny.

He was preceded in death by his cherished father, Wilson Wooten, and his dear younger sister, Winnie McMullen—both of whom he held close in heart and memory.

Also left behind is his faithful dog, Bandit, his loyal companion who never left his side. Each of them carries forward his legacy of love, faith, and strength.

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at First Baptist Church in Lake, MS. His services will take place at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lake Cemetery in Lake, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in honor of his enduring commitment to faith, family, and helping others.

Matthew 25:21 (NIV)“ Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”— A powerful verse for a man whose life was marked by faith and service. Sent from my iPhone
