Verlin Donald "Chipmonk" Monk, SR

Verlin Donald “Chipmonk” Monk, Sr., age 72, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center Leake, in Carthage, MS.   A Family led Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 12:00PM at Faith Baptist Church in Lena, MS.   

Chipmonk was born in Jackson, MS on August 14, 1951, to Willis Monk and Nora Mayzell Vinzant.  He moved from Rankin County, MS to Lena, MS where he lived for the last four years.  Verlin loved to watch TV and eat, loved trucks, dogs, Facetiming the grandkids, and he loved to dance. 

Chipmonk was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Nora Monk; his sister, Elaine Monk; his brothers, Charles Monk and Peewee Monk. He was survived by his two children, Verlin Monk, Jr. (Frances) of Denham Springs LA and Delaine Dean (Chris) of Florence, MS; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
