Ulhma "Pookie" Lee Havard

Ulhma Lee Havard, affectionately known as "Pookie," passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, at Choctaw Residential Center. Born November 27, 1950, in Bexley, Mississippi, Ulhma lived a life marked by steadfast dedication, quiet integrity, and enduring love for family and community.

A proud graduate of Lake High School, Lake, Mississippi, Ulhma forged his own path as a self-employed auto and body mechanic. Through his skilled hands and unwavering work ethic, he earned the trust and respect of all who came to know him, building not just a livelihood but lasting relationships with those he served.

Before embarking on his career, Ulhma dutifully served as a Postal Clerk in the United States Army. His commitment to service and responsibility was evident in both his military and civilian life, leaving a legacy of hard work and honor.

Ulhma enjoyed attending Salem Baptist Church in Forest, Mississippi. Outside of his work and church life, he found his greatest joys in the outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing—pastimes that brought him peace and connection to the land he loved.

Ulhma’s memory will forever be cherished by his brothers, John "Sam" Havard, Randy Havard, and Mark Havard. He is preceded in death by his brothers Lennie Ray Havard and Andrew "Andy" Havard, along with his father, John M. Havard, and his mother, Ivor Jewel Hobby. Ulhma’s enduring ties to family were a defining feature of his character, bringing comfort and unity to those closest to him.

A visitation to honor and remember Ulhma’s life will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, Mississippi, located at 136 Front Street. Following the visitation, a memorial service will commence at 1:00 PM at the same location.
