Mr. C. B. Thompson, age 79, passed away on Thursday December 8, 2016 at his residence. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 11, 2016 from 5:00PM until 7:00pm and again on Monday December 12, 2016 from 12:00PM until 12:50PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Monday December 12, 2016 at 1:00PM at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Lake, MS. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at 2:30PM at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Officiating will be Bro. Billy Emmons. Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Thompson had lived in Newton, MS since 1974 and was a member of the Newton First Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp for twenty years, retiring as a MSGT E8 in 1974; where he then returned to Newton and attended ECCC and received a degree in heating and air conditioning. He was a co-owner of Gibbon & Thompson Heating and Cooling for twenty-five years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Thompson was also a member of the American Legion in Hickory, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Madge Thompson; four brothers, Howard Earl, Billy Albert, Buford, and Harry Thompson; three sisters, Laurie Heathcock, Lillie Belle Pennington, and Margaret McDonald. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Anita Thompson of Newton, MS; two daughters, Susan Goodwin (Jimmy) of Lake, MS and Patricia Bounds (Sam) of Decatur, MS; one brother, Charles Thompson of Newton, MS; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Members of the United States Marine Corp will serve as pallbearers. Members of the American Legion Post in Hickory will serve as honorary pallbearers.
