Thomas Larry Brunt, a cherished member of the community, was born on November 9, 1942, in Marks, Mississippi, to Thomas Lewis Brunt and Effie Lindsey Brunt. He passed away on February 23, 2026, at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton, Mississippi. Larry lived a life marked by dedication and resilience, qualities that defined him both personally and professionally.
A proud graduate of Lula Rich High School in 1961, he went on to further his education at Delta State University. Throughout his lifetime, Larry held various jobs, ultimately working for the State of Mississippi, from which he retired from the Department of Human Resources. His career was characterized by a commitment to serving others, reflecting the profound values he held dear.
In the 1960s, Larry proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps for three and a half years. His military service was a significant part of his life, instilling in him a sense of discipline and dedication that he carried through to all his endeavors.
Larry was known for his quiet strength and unwavering loyalty. He had an incredible ability to bring laughter to those around him with his sense of humor, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His personality made him a beloved figure among family and friends.
He leaves behind his sister, Margaret (Jim) Brunt Sanders, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and his former wife, Dianne C. Brunt of Morton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry cherished his friendships throughout his life, with special memories shared with Watash Samuel Davis, with whom he enjoyed sharing a laugh, Rhonda, Leslie, and Lauren Newton.
Larry joins his beloved parents in eternal rest, Thomas Lewis Brunt and Effie Lindsey Brunt. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Bill Brunt, Charles Allen Brunt, and Louis Quentin Brunt. He is also remembered for the brief lives of his infant siblings, Carol Lynn and Greta Ann Brunt.
Thomas Larry Brunt will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to service will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton at 10:30 am. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am. There will be no graveside service.
