Temekia Latoya Towner-Barnes

Temekia Latoya Towner-Barnes passed away on September 01, 2026, at UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on March 28, 1978, and will be remembered with love for the care she gave to those around her and for the joy she found in her family.

Temekia was a member of Mt. Olive MB Church in Forest, Mississippi. Her life was centered on the people she loved most. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was a great cook, enjoyed riding four-wheelers, and listening to music. Above all, she loved being a mother and grandmother, and that love was a defining part of her life.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Gregory Barnes Jr.; her sons, Markel Towner and Jamarlo Barnes; her sister, LaKisha Combs; her brothers, Bobby Towner, Shone Towner, Dontae Towner, Duke Towner and Willie Johnson; her grandchildren, Jayden, Markel Jr., Markenzleigh, Markayla, Ryannah, and Lyannah; and her God sister, Kizzy Gibson, and a host of other friends. Each of them shared in the love, warmth, and strength that Temekia gave so freely, and her memory will remain close in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alton Anderson, and her mother, Peggy Towner.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services - Lake, 136 Front Street, Lake, Mississippi 39092. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Olive MB Church, 1722 Salem Rd, Forest, Mississippi 39074, with Rev. Charles Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive M.B. Cemetery, 1722 Salem Rd., Forest, Mississippi 39074.

Temekia Latoya Towner-Barnes will be remembered for her love of family, her welcoming spirit, and the happiness she brought to everyday moments. Her presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
