Rev. A.J. Stewart, age 92, passed away Sunday October 7, 2018 at his residence in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 9, 2018 from 5:30PM until 7:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS and Wednesday October 10, 2018 from 1:30PM until 1:50PM at Eureka Baptist Church in Sandhill, MS. Services will follow Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 2:00PM at Eureka Baptist Church in Sandhill, MS. Burial will follow at Eureka Baptist Cemetery in Sandhill, MS. Officiating will be Bro. David Bryant. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Rev. Stewart was a lifelong resident of North Rankin County. He was a Baptist in faith and a member of the Eureka Baptist Church in Sandhill, MS. Rev. Stewart worked at B.C. Rogers Poultry in Morton, MS for over thirty years. He pastored at Eureka Baptist Church and Riverbend Baptist Church after he was ordained on May 15, 1963.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Florence Stewart; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Margaret Stewart of Morton, MS; his daughter, Audrey Hilton (Johnny) of Florence, MS; his son, Glen Stewart of Morton, MS; three sisters, Bobbie Sue Darty of Carbon Hills, AL, Modena Griffin of Pelahatchie, MS, and Floye Pierce of Washington, D.C.; his brother, Roy Stewart of Morton, MS; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Trest, Glenn Prestage, Brandon Prestage, Chris Prestage, Wayne Cash, and Monty Hilton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Cash, Don Duncan, Billy Hood, and Mitchell Shepard.
