Shirley R. Avard, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Forest, MS, on January 1, 2025. Born on June 10, 1936, in Alma, NY, Shirley touched the lives of many during her time on this earth.

Shirley's journey was marked by a profound transformation, coming to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ later in life; this spiritual awakening brought about a change in her that was deeply evident to all who knew her. Her faith became a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others.

She is survived by her loving children: Julie Russell (Rodney) of Forest, MS; Mike Perry of East Hartford, CT; Dan Perry (Diana) of Mize, MS; and Scott Perry of Wamego, KS. Shirley's legacy of love continues through her twelve cherished grandchildren and twenty adoring great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Helton, her parents Mark and Ruth Dickerson, and six siblings. Their memories add to the tapestry of her life, and she will be remembered for the love and kindness she extended to all.

Family-led memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hillsboro Baptist Church to honor Shirley’s exceptional life and the impact she had on her family and community. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those she loves.
