Shelia Cook Matthews

Shelia Cook Matthews, of Morton, Mississippi, passed away on October 26, 2026, at UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born on September 29, 1964, in Hinds County, Mississippi.

For the past 25 years, Shelia made her home in Morton, where she was known for her warm and social spirit. She loved spending time with friends and family and found joy in being with others. She also loved karaoke, a pastime that reflected her lively nature and the happiness she brought to those around her.

Shelia will be remembered with deep love by those who survive her. She is survived by her husband, Rudy Matthews; her mother, Bernie Mae Cook; her daughter, Monica Cook; her son, Logan Matthews; her sisters, Lynn Mitchell and Beverly Foreman; her brother, Donnie Cook; and her grandchildren, Kaden Short, Zaylee Cook, Joshua Hayes Cumberland, Champ Usry, and Waylon Usry. The love she shared with her family will remain a lasting part of their lives, and her memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kelley Cook; her daughter, Morgan Cook; her son, Joseph Matthews; her grandson, Zane Usry; and her brother, David Cook. Their memories remained part of her life and story, and she is now remembered alongside them with love.

Visitation will be held on November 02, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Wolf Funeral Services - Morton, 3054 Hwy 80 West, Morton, Mississippi 39117. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Wolf Funeral Services - Morton. Interment will take place at Mt Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Union-Madden Road, Union, Mississippi 39365.

Shelia Cook Matthews will be remembered for her love of family, her enjoyment of time shared with others, and the bright spirit she brought into every gathering. May her memory bring comfort and peace to those who loved her.
