Sarah Kelly Townsend

Sarah Kelly Townsend, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Born on January 2, 1945, in Neshoba County, MS, Sarah spent most of her life in Morton, MS, after moving from the Hayes Community in Neshoba County. She was a devoted Christian whose faith served as a guiding light throughout her life.

Sarah cherished her family dearly. She is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Jones of Morton, MS,  Becky Frith of Morton, MS and Jeannie McNamee of Jacksonville, FL, two step-daughters, Kim Crapps of Morton, MS, and Connie Ward of Lena, MS; her sister, June Kelly of Morton, MS; her brother, Larry Kelly of Pelahatchie, MS; as well as three grandchildren, Harlen McGehee, Sethe Clay, Jennifer Crapps and Thomas Crapps. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Clay, Karleigh Clay, and Kyndall Clay, who brought immense joy to her life.

Sarah is preceded in death by her loving parents, Walter and Exie Mae Kelly; her first husband, Oliver McCrory; her second husband, DeQuency Townsend; two brothers; one sister; her daughter, Lisa McCrory McGehee; and her grandson, Hutch McGehee.

An ardent lover of dance, Sarah embraced life's moments with enthusiasm, sharing her love for movement with family and friends. Her passion for life and her kind spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on August 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM at the same location. All who knew Sarah are invited to join in celebrating her life and the memories she created with those she loved.
