Ruth Beverly Leverston

Ruth Beverly Leverston, age 77, born to Jim Reese, Sr. and Essie McAllister on November 29, 1947, in Morton, Mississippi, peacefully left this world on May 15, 2025, in Jackson, Mississippi. A beloved member of her community and an active participant at Farris Hill M.B. Church in Pelahatchie, Mississippi, Ruth will be remembered for her deep faith, warmth, and kindness that touched the lives of many.

Ruth is survived by her loving daughter, Katherine D. Brown of Las Vegas, Nevada,  She was also a proud grandmother to Ashley N. Brown, Jessice D. Flanagan, and Jimmy C. Varela, Jr., who brought her immense joy and inspiration throughout her life. Additionally, Ruth is survived by her sister, Naomi Rhodes, of Morton, Mississippi, and her brother, Millage “M.J.” Reese of Morton, Mississippi.

She now joins her cherished family members in eternal rest, including her parents, Jim Reese, Sr. and Essie Reese; her brothers, Jim Reese, Jr., Archie Reese, Jasper Reese, Melvin Reese, Mitchard Reese, and Jessie Reese, Sr.; as well as her sisters, Ruby Quinn and Margie Ree Vaughn. Their memories live on through the lives Ruth enriched during her time with us.

A visitation will be held in her honor on May 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services located in Morton, Mississippi. The funeral service will take place the following day, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Hill M.B. Church, followed by a graveside service at Pleasant Hill M.B. Cemetery at 12:00 PM.

Ruth Beverly Leverston will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her love, spirit, and devotion to her family and faith.
