Richard Paul Fortenberry

Richard Paul Fortenberry, 47, of Forest, Mississippi, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Richard was born on September 9, 1978, in Jackson, Mississippi, to Ricky and Carlene (Wilkerson) Fortenberry. He was known for his loyalty, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. Richard enjoyed the outdoors - Camping, grilling, fishing, and spending time around bonfires with the people he loved.

Throughout his life, Richard faced many personal struggles, but those challenges never defined the heart of who he was. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend who was deeply loved by many.

Richard is survived by his son, Jonathan (Lacey) Fortenberry of Philadelphia, Mississippi; his daughter Allison (Zack) Eakes of House, Mississippi; his bonus daughter Teaya Dickerson of Alden, Iowa; six grandchildren, Kiley Fortenberry, Karter Fortenberry, Kenzie Fortenberry, Beckham Fortenberry, Avery Eakes and Josie Eakes; his sister, Rebecca Fortenberry of Enterprise, Mississippi; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ricky and Carlene Fortenberry; paternal grandparents, William R. and Helen Beatrice Fortenberry; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Claudia Wilkerson; and his twin grandsons, Kayden and Kolby Fortenberry.

May Richard be remembered not for the hardships he faced, but for his big heart, his laughter, and the love he gave to those around him.
