William Jerry “Bill” Porter, age 74, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022, at UMMC in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Services will take place at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Burial will follow at Burns Cemetery in Burns, MS. Rev. Shannon Davis will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Bill was born to James Otis Porter and Luvie Winstead on March 28, 1948, in Neshoba County, MS. He had lived in Leesburg, MS and Morton, MS for the past twenty years. Bill was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He also was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and he loved watching Westerns and Wrestling.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, James Otis and Luvie Porter; sister, Barbara Ann Jones; brother-in-law, Dale Hollingsworth. He is survived by his wife, Gloria J. Porter of Morton, MS; daughter, Angela Allison of Tennessee; four sons, Timothy Henderson (Kimberly) of Brandon, MS, William J. Porter II (Stephanie) of Conehatta, MS, Sidney Porter of Conehatta, MS and Matthew Henderson (Kristy) of Morton, MS; Brother-in-law, Robert L. Lang of San Antonio, TX; five sisters, Sarah Hollingsworth of Lake, MS, Helen Griffin of Lawrence, MS, Delma Posey of Lawrence, MS, Jenny McGee of Lake, MS and Mary Bounds of Conehatta, MS; three brothers, Bobby Porter of Star, MS, Sam Porter of Lake, MS and Homer Porter of Pelahatchie, MS; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dexter Porter, William Porter III, Kirkland Henderson, Sid Porter II, Skylar Porter and Devin Henderson.
