Luvie Porter

February 7, 1917 — December 23, 2011

Luvie Delma Winstead Porter, 94, a resident of Lawrence passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at her residence. Visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 8:00 am until 1:15 pm. Funeral services were Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 1:30 pm in the chapel. Officiating was Elder George Gardner, Bro. Chris Wells, and Bro. Jimmy Jones did the Eulogy. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Porter had lived in the Gibbstown Community for the past seven years moving from Newton, MS and attended Sand Springs Baptist Church in Newton, MS. She loved spending time with her family and friends and loved to grow vegetables in her garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Otis Porter in 1997; three grandchildren, Tammy King, Steven Dale Hollingsworth, and Brian Bounds; three great-grandchildren. Samantha Sandoval, Brittany Porter, and Becky Porter.
She is survived by ten children, Bobby Porter and wife Delores of Florence, MS; Barbara Ann Jones and husband John of Newton, MS; Sam Porter and wife Katie of Lake, MS; Sarah Hollingsworth and husband Dale of Lake , MS; Homer Porter of Pelahatchie, MS; William Porter and wife Gloria of Morton, MS; Helen Griffin and husband William of Lawrence, MS; Delma Posey and husband Johnny of Lawrence, MS; Jenny McGee and husband Danny of Lake, MS; Mary Bounds and husband David of Conehatta, MS; one sister Minnie Bethany of Georgia; three brothers, J.P. Winstead of Olive Branch, MS; Horace Winstead of Little Rock, AR; Sam Winstead of Little Rock, AR; twenty one grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Norris Porter, Jimmy Jones, Tony Porter, Steven McGee, Jerry Porter, Sammy Griffin, Jason Posey, and Scott Bounds.
