Glenda Calhoun Phillips, 65, a resident of Forest passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest, MS. Visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services Friday, January 14, 2011 from 4:30 until 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 12:30 until 1:45 pm with services at 2:00 pm in the chapel and burial followed in the Old Souenlovie Cemetery, Pachuta, MS. Officiating was Rev. Sonny Adkins. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Glenda had lived in Forest for most of her life and was a member of Forest Baptist Church. She was the co-owner of Designs by David Florist for 19 years and she was the founding President of the Forest High School Choral Boosters. She was a 1963 graduate of Forest High School and served as secretary/treasurer of her graduating class. She was an avid fisherwoman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Eley and Mary Catherine Calhoun; one brother, Jack Calhoun and sister-in-law Jeri Calhoun.
She is survived by her husband, David E. Phillips of Forest; one daughter, Gennie Marie Phillips of Forest; four sisters, Jamis Magee, Hurley, MS; Myra Harvey, Lake, MS; Nett McClain, Vidalia, LA; Sara Currie, Raleigh, MS; Brother-in-law, Ellie Phillips, Jr. and wife Patricia of Morton, MS., and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Don Magee, Dwight Faulkner, Jackie Calhoun, Lee McClain, Johnathan Thorpe, Paul Calhoun and John David Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers were the Forest High School Class of 1963, Marty Phillips, Jeffrey Scott Phillips, Jay Carr, Cliff Currie, and UMC Heart Clinic physicians & staff.
