Nancy Kay Kittrell Carroll, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and former nurse, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025 at her home in Forkville, MS. She was born on June 15, 1951 and lived a life full of faith, compassion, and devotion to her family and community.
Nancy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Perry and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Savell of Pickens, MS, and Clarence and Naomi Kittrell of Philadelphia, MS; her parents Ola D. Savell Kittrell and William Edward Kittrell of Scott County, MS; and her siblings: Bettye Lea and Cecil Pitts of Mobile, AL; Billy Lee and Brenda Kittrell of Lena, MS; Howard and Judy Kittrell of Prentiss, MS; Clarence and Johnnie Kittrell of Decatur, MS. She was also preceded in death by a nephew, Craig Kittrell of Lake, MS; niece Tessy Kittrell; brother-in-law Fred Hill of Pearl, MS; sister-in-law Dale Hardy and her husband Bennie of Pearl, MS; and sister-in-law Mary Kittrell of Virginia.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of over 50 years, James Willie Carroll of Clifton/Forkville, MS, and their four daughters: Lori Foreman (TJ) of Forkville, MS; Shanna Head (William) of Ridgeland, MS; Holly Case (Adam) of Flowood, MS: and Kim Kitchens (Stacy) of Lake Jackson, TX. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Shaun Wheeler, James David Smith, Landan Smith, Tyler Smith, Mackenzie Grace Smith, Lynnex Case, and Breelyn Case.
She also leaves behind her brother, Thomas Kittrell of Virgina; sister-in-law Charlene Hill of Pearl, MS; brother-in-law Charles Carroll and his wife ViAnn of Forkville, MS; and many cherished nieces and nephews. Among them, a special niece and her family — Becky Kittrell Harrell, Tommy, Ashley, Cody, and Sara and great-great-niece Hazel Harrell — held a dear place in her heart.
Nancy's lifelong friendships brought her much joy, including her childhood best friend Iva Dean Dennis Smith, and close friends Dorothy Nutt and Judy Champion.
Nancy dedicated 23 years of her life to nursing, caring for others with skill and compassion. She spent 19 of those years with Sta-Home Health Agency and 4 years at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She found joy in the simple pleasures — tending to flowers, watching and feeding birds — and found her spiritual home at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Forkville, MS, where she was a committed and loving member until her health prohibited her from attending services. She accepted Christ Jesus through faith at the age of 11 and lived her life guided by that faith.
Nancy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched through her work, her faith, and most of all, her family.
