Mrs. Peggy Mynon Tadlock Burns, 82, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, peacefully at home in Forest, Mississippi, surrounded by her family and caregivers.
Mrs. Burns was a lifelong resident of Scott County. She was a longtime member of Homewood Methodist Church, where she was very active. Mrs. Burns was employed with the Rural Economic Housing Development for an astounding 35 years until her retirement in 2009. In her spare time, she loved gardening and enjoyed spending time (over the years) with her dogs, Dee Dee and Shelby, and her cat, Precious.
Mrs. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was married to Walter Mack Burns of Forest for 64 years. Although almost 90 years old, he was right by her side until the very end. He consistently told her that he loved her almost every 30 minutes for the past 5 years and beyond. Their love story is one written for the books...beautiful, deep, and everlasting.
Her greatest role in life was that of being a mother to her children, Gina, who passed away in 2009, and Todd. She loved her children deeply, with warm meals waiting at the table, a listening ear at just the right moment, and an unshakable presence through joy and hardship. Mrs. Peggy cherished her children profoundly.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy and Blanche Tadlock, and her daughter, Gina Mynon Burns. Also preceding her in death were infant twin siblings James and Janice Tadlock. Survivors include one son, Walter Todd Burns of Forest, MS, and husband Walter Mack Burns of Homewood, MS. She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton on Monday, April 06 from 5 pm to 7 pm. Funeral Services will be at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton on Tuesday, April 07 at 11 am. Interment service will follow at the Homewood Cemetery.
