Mason Balie Havard

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, the family of Mason Balie Havard announces his unexpected passing on July 23, 2026. Mason was born on August 5, 2007, at UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi, and at just 18 years old, his life was tragically cut short on Hwy 481 North in Morton, MS. The loss of Mason is deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Mason was an outdoorsman who loved to ride 4-wheelers, hunt, fish, and shoot his guns. Mason was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, and so much more. He was known for his vibrant spirit and the warmth he brought into the lives of those around him. His mother, Kristen James Coley, and his father, Chris Coley, mourn the irreplaceable loss of their son, whose kindness and enthusiasm illuminated every room he entered.

Mason cherished his family dearly and had a special bond with his siblings, especially Halie Havard, Michael Holmes, and Kywan Coley, who was very close to him. He is also survived by his sisters, Jaylynn Reid and Libby Anna Coley. He was also a loving uncle to Graclyn and Kaden Coley, Camden Weems, Copeland and Kollin Boykin. Mason’s life was further enriched by the love and guidance of his grandmother, Suzanne Owens, and his grandfather, Eugene Owens. His stepfather, Lance Downing, stood as another source of support and strength in his life, and his aunt, Laurin Robbins, will always hold dear the memories they shared, and his dear friend, Lee Grogan.

Mason was preceded in death by his sister, Cora Havard, whose memory continues to be honored within the family and whose absence Mason deeply felt.

He shared close friendships and formed connections that will be forever remembered by all whom he touched with his genuine kindness. The impact of Mason’s presence, laughter, and caring nature resounds across friends and extended family.

The family invites all those whose lives were touched by Mason to join in commemorating his life. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton, Mississippi. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM at the same location. Interment will take place at Hodge Hill Cemetery in Morton, where Mason will be laid to rest.

In this time of unimaginable loss, Mason’s family reflects on the love, joy, and laughter he brought into their lives. Though his time here was far too brief, Mason’s legacy of kindness and his unforgettable spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be sorely missed and forever remembered.
