Margie Faye Crosby, age 87, peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest, Mississippi. Born on September 23, 1937, in Scott County, Mississippi, she was the beloved daughter of John Sanderford and Luna Harrington Sanderford.
Margie’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication to her community. After marrying Robert Lewis Crosby of Lake, Mississippi, the couple enjoyed a loving union that lasted sixty-seven years. Together, they embraced life with warmth, joy, and a commitment to each other that inspired all who knew them.
As a longstanding member of Hazel Baptist Church, Margie served as the Sunday School Secretary and church custodian for twenty-five years, fostering a welcoming environment for fellow parishioners and visitors alike. Her melodic voice graced the church choir, bringing joy to many until her health no longer permitted.
Margie’s commitment to service extended beyond the walls of her church; she also served as a Newton County Election Commissioner for thirteen years, illustrating her dedication to civic duty and community engagement. Throughout her life, Margie demonstrated an indomitable spirit, having been a proud cancer survivor.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Tanya Phillips (Harlan) of Lake, Mississippi, and her son, Terry Crosby (Stacy), also of Lake, Mississippi. Margie cherished three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Crosby, parents, John and Luna Sanderford, and her brother, Kermit "Tip" Sanderford.
Family and friends are invited to honor her memory through the following services to be held at Hazel Baptist Church, located at 3175 MS-489, Lake, MS 39092. Visitation will be on August 31, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM.
In place of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude or the Children's of MS Hospital.
Margie Faye Crosby leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
