Sammy Edgar Lovett, Sr., 62, a resident of Morton passed away Thursday, February 03, 2011 at Scott Regional Hospital, Morton, MS. Visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services Friday, February 04, 2011 from 3:30 until 9:00 pm and there will be a visitation today, February 05, 2011 at Parkway Baptist Church from 10:00 am until 1:45 pm. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm in the church with burial following in Parkway Baptist Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Ray Ingram, Rev. David Holt, and Rev. Jerry Holmes. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
Sammy was a lifelong resident of Morton, MS and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Morton. He was a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and member of the brotherhood at Parkway Baptist Church and a Mason and a member of the Morton Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and loved his grandchildren. At the time of his death he was serving as Transportation Director for the Scott County School System.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary O’Cain; father, George Edgar Lovett.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Lovett of Morton; son, Sammy Lovett, Jr. and wife Brandy of Morton; daughter, Jennifer LeAnne Lovett of Morton; sister, Beverly Wootan and husband Tommy of Jackson; brothers, Travis O’Cain and wife Joann of Lena; James Lee O’Cain and wife Michelle of Morton; aunt, Bennie Lee Vanderford, Morton; mother-in-law, Verdell Blackwell, Morton; sister-in-law, Wanda Ingram and husband Ray of Morton; grandchildren, Mackenzie Nicole Lovett, Mallorie Claire Lovett, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Carson, Kevin Winstead, Harry Holmes, Jay Evans, Chris Sing, T.J. Wootan, Jeremy Ingram, and Ronnie Vanderford. Honorary pallbearers will be
Deacons at Parkway Baptist Church and Fellow Employees of the Transportation Department of the Scott county School System.
