Mrs. Dora Nell Lindsey, age 89, passed away May 31, 2018 at the Mississippi Care Center of Morton, MS surrounded by her family. She was born on March 22, 1929 to Noah and Mattie Bell Latham of Forkville, MS. Dora graduated Salutatorian of her Senior Class at Forkville High School on March 28, 1947, where she also served as Secretary-Treasurer. On December 28, 1947, she became the wife of William “Billy” Lindsey of Morton, MS. and later reared five children. The majority of her working career consisted of working at Sunbeam in Forest, MS until her retirement. She also worked alongside her husband raising cattle, driving a tractor, raking and baling hay, and working in chicken houses. Hard work was one thing she never shied away from. Passions in life included her love for her church, playing basketball and softball, fishing, riding horses, and cooking for her children and grands. Her contagious smile and laughter will truly be missed.
Dora is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her five children: Billie Nell Dowdle of Carthage, MS. Betty Lou (Kent) Pickett of Morton, MS. Marvin Noah (Vicky) Lindsey of Morton, MS. Peggy Ann (Paul) Chamblee of Carthage, MS. and Donna Clo (Jim) Armstrong, of Morton, MS. 10 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday June 1, 2018, from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held Saturday June 2, 2018 at 4:00Pm at Line Creek Baptist Church where she was a long time member.
Pallbearers are Josh Lindsey, Ben Lindsey, Brian Lindsey, Ethan Harrell, Jake Pickett, and Kris Knight. Honorary Pallbearers included Mitch Pickett, Jimmy Nutt, Ryan Peters, and Jackie Gaddis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her honor to Line Creek Baptist Church of Morton, MS, 2492 Line Creek, Rd. Morton, MS, 39117, 601-732-2261, for the Building and Cemetery Funds.
