Linda Mitchell

Linda Mitchell, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence in Lake, Mississippi, on June 26, 2026, at the age of 77. Linda was born on January 29, 1949, in Scott County, Mississippi, where she began a life rooted in family, faith, and community.

Throughout her years, Linda modeled warmth, compassion, and quiet strength. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" Proverbs 22:6. The journey was marked by the enduring love of her family and the deep connections she forged with those around her. Linda’s memory will be cherished by her devoted husband of 58 years, Jimmy Mitchell, who stood beside her through life’s many joys and challenges.

Linda’s spirit lives on through her children, each of whom carries a part of her legacy: her daughters, Michelle Gibbs and her husband Mike, and Sheila Bout and her husband Mark, as well as her son, Jason Mitchell, and his wife Christy. Their families are a testament to Linda’s nurturing presence and steadfast love. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Kathy Mosley, with whom she shared a special lifelong bond. Linda had 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family also fondly remembers those who preceded Linda in death, including her parents, Newt and Very Posey, whose memories are held close in their hearts during this time.

To those who knew Linda, her life was a blessing filled with purpose and kindness. She devoted herself fully to her loved ones and found great contentment in the simple joys of home and community. Her legacy is reflected in the lives she touched, her unwavering faith, and the treasured memories now held by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, Mississippi, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Wolf Funeral Services, after which Linda will be laid to rest at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Lawrence, Mississippi.

As the family grieves her loss, they are comforted by the love and support of relatives, friends, and all who knew Linda Mitchell. Her legacy of love, resilience, and gentle spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
