Karen Ann Ledlow Jacobs, 77, passed away on February 3, 2026, at her home in Lawrence. She was born on May 4, 1948, in Chunky, Mississippi, to Elton and Opal Ledlow. She grew up in the Lawrence community and graduated from Decatur High School in 1966. Karen loved collecting antique dishware and furniture. She also enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the beautiful flowers she grew. She loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart. She devoted many hours to Ebeneezer Missionary Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, helping with Bible school and Christmas programs, and she was known to be an excellent cook. She dearly loved her friends in the church’s Ladies ' Society Circle. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Ledlow.
Karen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dwight Jacobs; three children, Meschelle Thomas (Jason), Delaine Blackburn (Tab), and Houston Jacobs (Gabby). She was blessed with four grandchildren: Justin Blackburn (Allison), Ethan Thomas, Ella Thomas, and Sadie Jacobs; and three great-granddaughters: Hallie, Maddie, and Zoe Blackburn. She is also survived by her sister, Vicky Vaughn (Ralph); brother-in-law, Tim Jacobs (Betty); Ruth Gray (Scott); Marie James (Dan); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Ebeneezer Missionary Baptist Church in Newton, MS. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., officiated by Bro. Tommy Tanner and Bro. Justin Chaney. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Tab Blackburn, Justin Blackburn, Robbie Ledlow, and Wayne Vaughn.
Flowers are welcome, but donations to Ebeneezer Missionary Baptist Church (4442 Newton- Conehatta Rd, Newton, MS 39345) or East MS State Hospital -memo Footprints (851 Northside Drive, Newton, MS 39345) would also be appreciated.
Special thanks to Quality Hospice and Ann’s Adult Sitting Service for taking wonderful care of our mom. There are so many friends and church groups that checked on Mom and Dad, brought food, and covered them with prayers. We can never express how much this love was appreciated.
