Imogene Steadman

Imogene Richardson Steadman, 83, passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2025, in Morton, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 20, at 11:00 a.m., with Bro. Doyle Boyle officiating. Wolf Funeral Services is entrusted with arrangements. Burial will follow at Morton Memorial Gardens in Morton, MS

Imogene was born in Scott County on March 31, 1942, to Tom and Leola Richardson. She devoted her life to serving and caring for others. She and her husband, Charles, operated Steadman TV Repair Service and Double S Trucking. She was also a long-time employee of Morton Furniture Mart, where she worked for over twenty years.

As the mayor’s wife and a talented gardener, Imogene poured her love into beautification projects across the city of Morton, helping make her community a more welcoming and lovely place.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Steadman; daughter-in-law, Angie Steadman; brothers JD Richardson, Bill Richardson, Thomas Richardson, and WL Richardson; and sisters Katie Maude Wheeler, Laverne Waggoner, Shirley Williamson, and Betty Jo Phillips.

She is survived by her three sons: Greg Hawkins (Luellen) of Homewood, Eddie Steadman (Terri) of Crestview, FL, and Tommy Steadman (Pam) of Clinton, MS; her sister, Cathy Harris of Bastrop, LA; her five grandchildren, Crystal Hawkins, Tom Steadman, Jon Steadman, David Steadman, and Alison Steadman White and six great-grandchildren, Michael Wilson, Michelle Wilson, Jackson Steadman, Collin Steadman, Scarlett Steadman and Laura Steadman and a host of neices, nephews, and other relatives.

Pallbearers are: Randy Harrison, Thomas Harrison, Ross Harrison, Benny Hutchinson, Jimmy Steadman, Ricky Steadman and Billy Gene Steadman

Imogene will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering work ethic, and the love she shared so freely with her family, friends, and community.
