Irvin Lenord Harris, Sr. “Frog”, age 90, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at his residence in Smith County, MS. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM and Saturday, December 31, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM all at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Smith County, MS. Services will take place at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Smith County, MS. Bro. Rudy Jackson, Bro. Robert Hallman and Bro. Talmadge Maddox will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Irvin was born to Chester Lee Harris and Laura V. Wicker Harris on June 12, 1932, in Pulaski, MS. He had lived in Smith County for over sixty years. Irvin loved to ride horses, was a member of Central MS Wagon train and was an honorary member of the East MS Wagon train. Irvin loved his horses and wagon, he loved God, family and friends. He loved to cook and was really good at it. Irvin loved his dog Sassy and to fish and squirrel hunt. He was a good ole’ County Boy.
Irvin was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beth Thrasher Harris; parents, Chester Lee Harris and Laura Vernetta Wicker Harris; two brothers, Clinton Harris and Manuel Harris; two sisters, Adelia Quillen and Cornelia Ritchie; great grandson, Noah Wicker. He is survived by his six children, Pete Boykin (Donna) of Forest, MS, Kathy Keeton (Billy Joe) of Pineville, MS, JR Harris (Becky) of Morton, MS, Becky Perkins (Richard) of Forest, MS, Denise Jackson (Rodney) of Pineville, MS and Roger Harris (Cynthia) of Morton, MS; sister, Lois McNeil of Indian Springs, NC; fifteen grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Keeton, Jay Roberts, Matthew Roberts, Jonah Jackson, Cole Harris and Kevin Harris.
