Grady Lynn Austin

Grady Lynn Austin, 71, of Forest, Mississippi, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Born October 3, 1954, in Havre, Montana, Grady was the son of Charles Stewart Austin and Doris Thelma Brandvold Austin. He grew up in Scott County and attended Forest High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and cherished many fond memories.

Grady spent most of his career in the oil and gas industry, a profession that led him to travel throughout the United States, from California and the Rocky Mountain West to Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas. He enjoyed traveling the country, meeting new people, and experiencing the communities where he lived and worked.

Grady was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Stewart Austin and Doris Brandvold Austin, and his son, Jon Charles Austin.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie Austin; his daughters, Abby Austin, Brandi Denton Gatewood, and Roseann (Lee) Hendrick; his siblings, Benny Austin and Sharlee Swartzentruber; his grandchild, Mason Hendrick; and his nieces and nephews, Meaghan Huseman, Ron Austin, Julie Austin, Dylan Swartzentruber, and Charlie Swartzentruber.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Denton in Forest, Mississippi.
