Daniel Johnston, Jr.

Gerald Daniel Johnston, Jr., age 51, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his residence. A family led memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence, MS. 

Daniel was born in Jackson, MS on August 22, 1972, to Gerald Johnston, Sr. and Deborah Neese. He was a lifelong resident of Rankin County. Daniel loved his family more than life, loved fishing and hunting with Ben, loved Batman, was a talented artist and had written a few poems. He was a 1990 graduate of Pearl High School. He was a proud member of NJROTC where he was the unit commander his senior year. He was always known as being the jokester. 

Daniel is preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Neese; his grandparents; and his mother-in-law, Brenda Wood. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Johnston of Pearl, MS; his dad and step mother, Gerald Johnston, Sr. and Alice Johnston; his father in law, Larry Wood; his five children, Blake Beckham (Jessie) of Pearl, MS, Rachael Beckham of Pearl, MS, Chrystal Beckham (Johnny)  of Pearl, MS, Benjamin Johnston (Ashley) of Pearl, MS and Kristen Davis (Brent) of Florence, MS; his brother, Chris Johnston (Kristi) of Pelahatchie, MS; grandchildren, Cristian Lopez, Kinsleigh Shavers, Jolene Vogle, Hagen Davis, Ramsey Davis, River Davis, Elizabeth Johnston, Annalise Johnston and Reed Davis; nieces, Ashley Phillips (Heather) and Amanda Johnston.
