George Murphy Moore

George Murphy Moore, a lifelong resident of Morton, Mississippi, passed away on May 27, 2026, at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on January 8, 1949, in Morton, George lived a life deeply rooted in his community, faith, and family.

George was a member of the Greater Holy Hill Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) in Morton, where he nurtured his spiritual life and contributed to the fellowship of his church. His passions extended beyond his church community; he had a profound love for cattle farming and took great pleasure in working in his yard, activities that reflected his dedication and connection to the land and nature.

He is survived by his beloved son, Kelsey Moore, who carries forward his legacy with pride and honor. George is also remembered by his brother, Bro. Melvin (Anita) Moore and his sister, Betty Hayes. In addition, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a wide circle of other family members and friends who cherished his presence and will hold him close in their memories.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Nancy Moore, who laid the foundation for his character and values. He was also preceded by his sisters, Flora Jean Geary and Evelyn Lockhart, and his brothers, Frank, Stingley, Robert Earl, and Marvin Bernard, whose memories live on through the family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Wolf Funeral Services - Morton, located at 3054 Hwy 80 West, Morton, Mississippi 39117. This gathering will provide an opportunity for all who knew George to come together to honor his memory and celebrate the meaningful life he led.
