Effie Turner

d. March 4, 2024

Effie Marie Turner, age 68. Her visitation will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS.  There will be a private burial.

“To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8

Effie was born to the late Deacon Lonnie Lofton and the late Minnie Lee Epting on June 21, 1955, Smith County, Mississippi.  She was the seventh child out of eleven children.

Effie attended Turner Chapel school where she received her education and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age.   She also became a member of evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership and founder of the late Overseer Marvin Epting for many years until his death.  Even then Effie remained a faithful servant under the leadership of Pastor Fred Boyd, Pastor Fred Durr, and Pastor Willie Lofton until her health failed her.  Effie was a member of the adult choir, a member of the usher board and an assistant to the youth choir.  She was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand and word of wisdom when the opportunity presented itself.  Effie loved her family and enjoyed every moment she had with them.

On Monday, March 4, 2024, Effie departed this earthly life.  Preceding her in death are her parents, Deacon Lonnie Lofton and Minnie Lee Lofton; her husband, Earl Turner; her son, Jammie Craft; her three brothers, Lonnie Lofton, Jr., Archie Lofton and Ralph Lofton.

Effie leaves to cherish her memory three children, Stephanie (Laron) Lee of Las Vegas, NV, Tanya Sha (Johnathan) Pace of Pulaski, MS and Ashley Mcintosh of Houston, TX; three stepchildren, Yolanda Williams, Sharon Williams and Andree Williams; four grandchildren, Erica Lee Roosevelt Harper, La ‘Nyjah Pace and Braylon Pace; three great grandchildren, Jammie Moses Lee, Jarmari Lee and Jayce Lee. She graciously leaves behind two brothers, five sisters, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
