Shirley Derrick, 72, a resident of Forest passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at her residence. Her visitation was held at Wolf Funeral Services on Monday, February 28, 2011 from 11:30 am until 2:45 pm and funeral services were held in the chapel at 3:00 pm with burial following in the Homewood Methodist Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Danny Dickerson. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Derrick had lived in Forest for the past 38 years and she was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Forest, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lee Derrick in 1995; five brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one son, Greg Derrick of Forest; two step-sons, Tim Derrick and wife Paula Derrick of Brandon; Jim Derrick, Jr. of Forest; two sisters, Betty Harrison of Forest; Doris Easterling of Forest; one sister-in-law, Geraldine Grayson of Louin; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Ray Hillman, Steve Fredrick, William Johnson, Russell Carter, James Sistrunk and Marty Hillman. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Derrick, Jim Derrick, Jr and Billy Grayson.
