Edwin M. "Ed" Davis

Edwin M. “Ed” Davis, 90, born May 18, 1931, passed away on June 24, 2021, at the VA Nursing home in Collins, MS. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 2:50 PM with services following at 3:00 PM, all at Wolf Funeral Services Morton, MS. Bro. Barry Corbett will be officiating. Burial will be at Sims Cemetery under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services. All former employees are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.

Ed was a lifelong resident of Scott & Rankin counties. He was a member of Pelahatchie Baptist Church. Ed served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War under the 67th Tactical Recon Wing. Shortly after returning from service he married Neva Jean Avera and they moved to Hattiesburg. He then attended University of Southern Mississippi where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. After college he began working at GMAC for a number of years. He moved to Morton and bought interest in Rogers Davis Motor Company. In 1976 he purchased Service Chevrolet in Pelahatchie, MS, his family then moved to Pelahatchie. In 1986, he purchased the Chevrolet-Olds dealership in Forest and changed the name to Ed Davis Motors, Inc. Over his 40+ years of selling and servicing GM products, he earned many awards recognizing his sales and customer satisfaction. Ed was always proud of employees that shared his vision that the customer came first and treated them right. His motto “At Ed Davis Motors, Price Is Only Half of the Deal”. Through all the sales, he valued his customers and the friendships he developed with them.

Outside of his business, he loved Corvettes, family reunions, traveling, and enjoyed his grandchildren. He and Neva Jean really enjoyed spending time with their Morton potluck group.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife Neva Jean Avera Davis; parents, Mirabeau and Lecie Davis; granddaughter, Carolyn Jean “CJ” Williams; two brothers, Eldon Davis and Jerrel Davis. He is survived by son, Don Davis (Julie Stewart Davis) of Pelahatchie, MS; daughter, Jill Davis of Long Beach; one brother, Paul Davis (Beverly) of Meridian, MS; two sister-in-law’s, Wilma Davis (wife of Eldon) of Branch, MS and Norma Davis (wife of Jerrel) of Meridian, MS; two grandchildren Derek Davis (Shelly) and Brett Davis; two great grand- children Asher Davis and Kannon Davis; a number of nieces, nephews and other family.

The Family would like to give special recognition to the staffs of Mississippi Care Center of Morton, Mississippi State Veterans Home in Collins and Kare-In-Home Hospice.
