Shreree Merchant Crosby

Shreree Merchant Crosby, age 56, of Morton went home to be with our Lord, May 12, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton, Ms. Saturday May 26, 2018 at 2:00PM with visitation following from 2:30PM until 3:00Pm. Officiating will be Rev. Matt Armstrong. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. will be in charge of the arrangements.
She experienced a wonderful childhood in West Jackson Dixon Acres neighborhood and loved being a Girl Scout and participating in GA’s and other activities at Van Winkle Baptist Church. Shreree had an exceptional ear for music and began singing and playing the piano at an early age. She enjoyed running track in high school and graduated from both Magnolia Academy and Phillips Business College. Later while attending Hinds Community College, she sang and acted in the Lenden Players production of the musical comedy Nunsense. Shreree also studied modeling, was a pageant contestant, authored several poems and was extremely intelligent, creative and witty. In addition to some part-time and temporary employment stints, she worked at Metro Discount Drugs and then used her excellent secretarial and administrative skills at Mccarty Foods, Employment Commission, and MEMA. Multiple health condtions greatly affected her physical abilities for a number of her adult years, but she lovingly helped care for her parents as much as possible when their health declined. She was very sensitive and tenderhearted and had a deep appreciation for all of God’s handiwork. Shreree was very passionate about family and especially delighted in being “Granny Ree Ree” to Haley. In recent years she renewed her faith and deepened her relationship with God. Her most treasured moments and hours of each day were those spent in quiet time, devotional reading and prayer.
Shreree is survived by her son Blake Crosby (Kim), granddaughter Haley Crosby, siblings Ann Fox (Allen), and Jimmy Merchant (Melissa). She is also survived by several loving aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, cousins, and close family friends. She is preceded in death by her parents J. Howard “Doc” Merchant, and Ruby Lee Doty Merchant.
