James C. "Jimmy" Cooksey

Mr. James C. “Jimmy” Cooksey age 77, passed away Thursday November 19, 2020 at UMMC in Jackson, MS. A visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS on Sunday November 22, 2020 from 2:30PM until 5:00PM. A second visitation will be held at Salem Baptist Church in Lake, MS on Monday November 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 12:00PM. Burial will be at Salem Baptist Cemetery. Rev. Larry Duncan will officiate.

Mr. Cooksey was a lifelong resident of the Good Hope community in Scott, County, MS. He was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Lawrence, MS. Mr. Cooksey loved his farming and trucking.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Dorothy Cooksey; five sisters, Dorothy Bounds, Doris Thompson, Louvenia Pearson, Clydene Bolton, Daisy McDonald; two brothers, Walter Cooksey and Billy Cooksey.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dianne Cooksey of Lake, MS; six daughters, Wanda Dean of Lake, MS, Wynette Cole of Philadelphia, MS, Wendy Cooksey of Lake, MS, Wilma Davis of Vincent, AL, Wynona Basinger of Lake, MS, Wileen Gray of Springfield, VA; three sons, Wayne Cooksey of Lake, MS, Wally Cooksey of Theodore, AL, Wade Cooksey of Lake, MS; two sisters, Gail Tarver of Florence, MS, Pam Collins of Newton, MS; brother, Ottis Cooksey of Lake, MS; eighteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Donovan Cooksey, Jessie Barrett, Justin Barrett, Matt Ferguson, Josh Bradley and Jason Bradley. Honorary pallbearers are Franklin Johnson, Ryan Moore, Dusty Davis and Eli Gray.
