Linda Lou Coker (Thorne)

Mrs. Linda Lou Thorne Coker, age 79, passed away on Sunday May 5, 2019 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 7, 2019 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS and on Wednesday May 8, 2019 from 9:00AM until 9:50AM at First Baptist Church of Polkville. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Polkville on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at 10:00AM with Brother Will McNeese and Brother Frank Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow at Cooperville Baptist Cemetery in Morton, MS.
Mrs. Coker was a lifelong resident of the Cooperville community in Scott County, MS. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Polkville, MS. Mrs. Coker was a member of the UFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Southern Gardener. She helped with events to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation. She worked for many years as a floral designer with Paula’s Florist in Morton and Flowers by Mary in Brandon, MS. She loved sewing, quilting and flower gardening.
Mrs. Coker was preceded in death by her parents, Major Henry Thorne, Sr. and Mattie Thorne; and one brother Major Henry Thorne, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Marion W. Coker of Morton, MS; daughter, Melissa Wiggins (Glenn) of Polkville, MS; son, Chris Coker of Brandon, MS; daughter in law Melanie Coker of Brandon, MS; three grandchildren, Benjamin Wiggins, Madelaine Coker and Mollye Coker.
