She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher who was always there when anyone needed her. She loved fiercely and showed everyone around her what it looked like to faithfully and unconditionally serve the Lord. She was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist of Madison but faithfully served at Morton United Methodist Church for many years. Before retiring, she touched many lives in the classroom where she taught for 30 years. She was never idle therefore in her free time you could find her tending to her garden, reading novels, playing her favorite video game on her phone, and cooking delicious treats for AB, family, friends, and others. Tennis was once a favorite hobby and she would quickly let you know that she was a State Champion and she adored her tennis friends. Travel was a passion and planning her next trip to a wonderful location was always in the works. She loved traveling and cruising with AB but also loved taking her family along. Jean loved serving others whether sharing chocolates with residents at St. Catherine’s Village to wrapping presents for children in need.

She also had many friends, on and off the tennis court and was a well-loved member of the community in Ridgeland and Morton, MS. She was predeceased by [family members who died before]. She survived by her loving husband Alton Farris of 61 years; two daughters, Laurie Farris of Madison, MS, Suzanne Hollingshead (Jonathan) of Madison, MS; two sisters, Ann Klumb Cummings of Fairhope AL, Tommie Sue Davis of Crystal Springs, MS; three grandchildren, Carney Catherins Holloway (Josh Lamar Lamas), Anna Claire Holloway, Carter Alan Hollingshead.
