Verdell Blackwell

Verdell Phillips Blackwell, 86, a resident of Morton, MS passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at her residence. Visitation will be held at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 4:00 until 9:00 pm, and at Parkway Baptist Church in Morton, MS on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 10:00 am until 1:50 pm. Funeral services will be at Parkway Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with burial following in the Eastern Cemetery in Forest, MS. Officiating will be Rev. Ray Ingram and Rev. Bob Smith.
Mrs. Blackwell had lived most of her life in Scott County, and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Morton, MS. Mrs. Blackwell and her late husband, Harold Blackwell, were instrumental in founding the Parkway Baptist Church. She was a member of the Prime of Life Sunday School Class and taught bible classes and she loved to sing gospel music, fish, sew and shop.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Blackwell; son-in-law, Sammy Lovett, and five brothers, and two sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Lovett of Morton, MS; Wanda Ingram and husband Rev. Ray of Morton, MS; two sisters, Bennie Vanderford of Morton, MS; Penny Bufkin of Homewood, MS; five grandchildren, Sammy Lovett, Jr, Jennifer Lovett, Brian Ingram, Jeremy Ingram, and Chris Ingram; eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Lovett, Jr., Jeremy Ingram, Ronnie Vanderford, Billy Bufkin, Eric Phillips, and James Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Ingram, Chris Ingram, Danny Jones, Brian Martin, Joey Holmes, Terry Phillips, Marty Phillips and Chris Jones.
