Betty Carolyn Gardner Clements, born on January 25, 1949, in Scott County, Mississippi, was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her deep commitment to her faith, family, and community. She peacefully departed from this world on May 28, 2025, at her home in Pulaski, Mississippi, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by many.

Betty was the proud daughter of Bro. John Ervin Gardner and Odell Tillman Gardner. She was raised in a loving home and received her education at Forest High School before pursuing her passion for beauty by graduating from Hatfields Beauty School in Pearl, Mississippi.

Throughout her life, Betty exemplified what it meant to be a devoted follower of Christ. Her unwavering faith guided her actions as she dedicated herself to serving others through her church and within her community. As a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she will be remembered for her infectious laughter, warm smile, and encouraging words that touched the hearts of those she encountered. Her generous spirit and deep devotion to God and family were evident in everything she did.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Christy Batte Hodge of Raleigh, Mississippi, along with her two sons, Franky Batte of Forest, Mississippi, and Timmy Batte (Teresa) of Forest, Mississippi. She also leaves behind her sister, Margaret Dianne Johnson (Bro. Clint) of Sebastopol, Mississippi. Betty's family tree flourishes with her nine grandchildren: Christopher Black, Tyler Black, Brandin Batte, Jack Batte, Emmalee Hodge, Trinity Thompson, Irene Batte, Davon Holified, and Bo Braswell. Moreover, she was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Bella Black, Brylee Black, Hadley Kate Batte, Kayden Batte, Ava Thompson, Michael Thompson, and Austin Braswell.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Neal Clements, as well as her father, Bro. John Ervin Gardner, her mother, Odell Tillman Gardner, her brothers, Johnny Gardner and Martin “Buddy” Gardner, and her sisters, Peggy Clements and Brenda Bassett.

A visitation to honor her memory will take place on May 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, located at 1052 SCR 541 in Forest, Mississippi. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location beginning at 1:00 PM.
