Morton

Annie Clyde Marler, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, in her hometown of Morton, Mississippi. She was born on April 29, 1934, in Morton, where she spent her entire life, embracing the beauty of her community and the love of her family.

Clyde was a proud member of the Pelahatchie Cornerstone Church in Pelahatchie, Mississippi, where she found great joy in the fellowship and support of her church family. Her kind heart and unwavering spirit resonated with all who knew her. Clyde enjoyed many pastimes that brought her happiness, including painting, cooking, and playing cards. These activities not only enriched her own life but also created lasting memories with those she loved. Clyde also loved working at the Morton Public Library. She reveled in her love for travel, having visited forty-eight states across this beautiful country. Each journey was a testament to her adventurous spirit and her desire to experience life to the fullest.

Married for seventy-three beautiful years to her devoted husband, A.W. Marler, Clyde was the embodiment of partnership and love. Together, they raised their family with warmth and compassion. Clyde is survived by her cherished daughter, Terri Steadman, and her husband Eddie of Crestview, Florida, and her son Robert Marler and his wife Kathy of Morton, Mississippi.

She leaves behind a legacy through her three grandchildren—Emily Crotwell, David Steadman, and Alison Steadman White—who adored their grandmother deeply. Clyde's family also includes her two great-grandchildren, Aria Crotwell and Noah Crotwell, who were the joy of her later years. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her sister, Margie Muir of Winona, Mississippi, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who have been touched by her kindness.

Clyde's parents, Lamar and Sue Eichelberger, her brother, Sonny Eichelberger, and her two sisters, Gloria Denton and Lovelle Andrews, predeceased her, leaving a void that her vibrant presence will wish to fill.

A memorial gathering to honor Clyde's remarkable life will take place on September 15, 2025, at the Pelahatchie Cornerstone Church, beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. The family invites all those whose lives were intertwined with Clyde’s to join them in remembering a wonderful woman whose spirit will continue to inspire and illuminate the hearts of all she encountered.
