Bro. Tommy Lee Anderson, 76, Lake, MS, a husband, father, paw-paw, pastor, and friend went home to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on November 3, 2021. He was born June 24, 1945 the son of the late Archie and Willie Maude Everett Anderson.
Bro. Tommy served in the MS Army National Guard and was deployed to the MS Gulf Coast during Hurricane Camille (1969). He worked in the Sunbeam Plant in Forest, MS where he met his bride, Janette. He went on to drive a milk truck for Borden Milk Company before surrendering to the gospel ministry. He attended Clarke College in Newton, MS before going on to Mississippi College where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Bro. Tommy was a full-time minister who pastored numerous churches over a 50-year span in central Mississippi including Conehatta Baptist Church, Conehatta, MS; Hopewell Baptist Church, Little Rock, MS; Harrisville Baptist Church, Harrisville, MS; Linwood Baptist Church, Philadelphia, MS; Paul Truitt Memorial Baptist Church, Pearl, MS; Emmanuel Baptist Church, Pearl, MS; and Lorena Baptist Church, Lorena, MS. Throughout Bro. Tommy’s ministry countless numbers of people came to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He had the opportunity over the years to minister in Honduras and also visit the Holy Land.
Bro. Tommy is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Janette White Anderson; his children Lauree Leigh Shows (Manuel); John Mark Anderson (Sheri); Thomas Christopher “Chris” Anderson (Blair); his three grandchildren Savanah, Mercy, and Marshall. He is also survived by his sister, Nell Foreman (the late Toby Foreman); and his brother, James Anderson and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He will be remembered most of all for his faith and love of Jesus Christ, his time spent studying and preaching the Word of God, his love for singing gospel music, his love for farming and God’s animals, his love for family and the numerous ways he served others.
Funeral services will be handled by Wolf Funeral Services, Lake, MS. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM at Wolf Funeral Services, Lake, MS. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 7, 2021, next door at First Baptist Church, Lake, MS with Bro. Tal Vardaman, Bro. Andy Gipson, and Bro. Hubert Yates officiating. Graveside will follow at Salem Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Doyle White, Mark Tanner, Lambert Henderson, Cliff Horton, Johnny Emmons, and Artie Foreman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Baulcom and Randy Emmons.
In lieu of flowers, Bro. Tommy would want us to follow the instructions of Jesus:
“Whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant; even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 20: 26-28
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and, lo, I am will you always even to the end of the world. Matthew 28:19-20
