Neal Goree

Neal Goree, 77, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.  His Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM followed by his Funeral Service At 11:00 AM.  His Visitation and Funeral will take place at Homewood Baptist Church.  Interment will follow at Lorena Baptist Cemetery.  Bro. Doyle Boyles and Bro. Glen Hayman will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.

Neal was born on July 29, 1946 in Morton, MS to Hugh and Mae Goree and was a lifelong Smith County resident.  He was Baptist by faith and was a member of Homewood Baptist Church.  Neal was very active and he loved the farm life.  He also loved hunting and fishing, singing gospel music, but most of all he loved his family.  Neal had a very special relationship with his son and grandchildren.

Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mae Goree.  He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Goree; his son, David Goree (Jennifer) of Lorena, MS; sister, June Kilts of Pulaski, MS; brother, Jimmy Goree (Jackie) of Irvington, AL and his grandchildren, Grant Goree and Anna Kate Goree.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Shoemaker, Gene Boone, Ricky Warren, David Gainey, Sam Shirley, Mitch Hallman, Caleb Boyles and Woody Burt.  Honorary pallbearers will be Chase Bonne, Delton Boone, John Tyler Wells and Louis Ingram.
