Steven "Dusty" "Dusty" Bates

Steven Dusty Bates, age 40, of Morton, passed away at the University of Mississippi Medical Center on March 28, 2023, following a brief illness. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 10:00 PM until 10:50 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Services will take place at 11:00 AM in our Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Allen Chapel Cemetery in Lena, MS. Bro. Joseph Oster will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Dusty was a lifelong resident of Scott County. He was an avid boater and fisherman, and he particularly loved his dogs: Rowdy and Turbo. Dusty was an amazing uncle and was affectionately known as “Uncle D.” He was a passionate sports fan, and his favorite team was the Ole Miss Rebels. Dusty is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jeff and Jeanette Bates; and his maternal grandparents, Rayford and Winnie Lee Palmer. He is survived by his wife, Kayla Latham Bates of Morton, MS; parents, Billy Jack Bates and Joan Palmer Bates of Morton, MS; brother, Shannon Lee Bates (Daphney) of Lake, MS; two sisters, Dana Michelle Bates Johnston (Lynn) of Lena, MS, and Lisa Danielle Bates Parker of Lake, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Bates, Lane Withers, Jeffrey Rogers, Jason Cook, Corey Shoemaker, Justin Latham, Lee Beard, and Daniel Walker.
