Mr. Joe Tom Brown, Jr., 86, passed away on Friday March 17, 2017 at his home in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 19, 2017 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM and again on Monday March 20, 2017 from 10:00AM until 10:50AM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Monday March 20, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Wolf Funeral Services Chapel in Morton, MS. A private burial will be held at a later date. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Glazier. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Brown, a native of Sunflower County, had lived in Morton, MS since 1953 and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Morton. He was a graduate of Moorehead High School and Mississippi State University, where he played baseball. He then went to work in the poultry industry with Southeastern Poultry where he later retired from. He served as President of Mississippi Poultry Association from 1970-1971, and served on the Board of Directors of Southeastern Poultry and Egg Association. He also served many years on the Morton School Board and was a lifetime member of the Forest Country Club. Mr. Brown was an avid outdoorsman who loved to deer hunt and cook.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Nelson “Ricky” Brown in 1978; his parents, Joe Tom Brown, Sr. and Reba Brown; and his sister, Helen Hill. He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Anne Brown of Morton, MS; two sons, Tom Brown (Susan) of Forest, MS and JoJo Brown (Martha) of Morton, MS; four grandchildren, Chrysler Carter (Chance), Chan Brown (Marty), Chad Brown (Mika), and Bailey Brown; nine great grandchildren, Paxton Brown, Carter Brown, Chandler Brown, Parker Brown, Sarah Foster Brown, Walker Brown, Campbell Carter, Bradley Carter, and Bennett Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chad Brown, Chan Brown, Chance Carter, John Marler, Ricky Parker, Jim Marler, George Marler, Jim Eichelberger, and Hez Hollingsworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Morton United Methodist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 529 Morton, MS 39117.
