Makenya T. Peterson, age 31 a resident of Morton, MS passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held on Friday August 14, 2015 from 1:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS and again on Saturday August 15, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 10:50 AM at Greater Holy Hill C.O.G.I.C. Church in Morton, MS. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Greater Holy Hill C.O.G.I.C Church. Burial will follow in the Greater Holy Hill C.O.G.I.C. Cemetery. Officiating will be Elder Charlie Jones, Jr. Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS is in charge of the arrangements.
Makenya was a lifelong resident of Morton, MS and she was a member of the Greater Holy Hill Church of God in Christ in Morton, MS. She was a 2002 graduate of Morton High School and a member of the track team. She attended Tougaloo University and Belhaven College. At the time of her death she was manager of the Rainbow Clothing Store in Jackson, MS and formerly worked at Cato Clothing Store.
Makenya was preceded in death by her grandfather, Clarence Peterson; grandmothers, Lucille Peterson and Geneva Flanagan. She is survived by her parents, William M. and Sevetrus Peterson of Morton, MS; one daughter, Mhanaree Peterson of Morton, MS; one brother, Kingi Peterson of Morton, MS; maternal grandfather, B.C. Flanagan of Morton, MS; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers are Brad Lloyd, Kentriss Washington, Mario Washington, Patice Moore, Montez Peterson and Curtis Laster, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Brigg, Tony Boyd, Benard Walker, and Marcus Cleveland.
